About Brian Frenzel

Since 2000, Brian Frenzel has served as President of the AnVent Group, private investors and advisors to early-stage life science companies. During this time, he has held various leadership roles at biopharmaceutical, medical device and medical service companies. In 2007, Mr. Frenzel joined the Board of Directors of SanBio, Inc., a developer of cell therapy products for patients with disabilities brought on by neurodegenerative diseases such as stroke and Parkinson’s disease. Since 2005, Brian Frenzel has served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Tosk, Inc., a pharmaceutical discovery and development company creating new drugs to block the adverse side effects of chemotherapeutic agents.

Applying his expertise in general management, product development, finance, business development, licensing and marketing strategy, Brian Frenzel contributed significantly to the success of four start-up companies prior to assuming his current roles. From 1984 to 1988, Mr. Frenzel held the positions of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for Genelabs Technologies Inc., a therapeutic and diagnostics product firm, and from 1988 to 1991 served as President and CEO at Adeza Biomedical Corporation, a developer of diagnostic devices and products relating to prenatal medicine and women’s health care. In 1991, Brian Frenzel began a four-year tenure initially as CEO and then Chairman of the Board of the therapeutic medical device firm Vesta Medical, Inc.; in 1992, he joined Centaur Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a company specializing in neurodegenerative diseases and complications associated with aging, as its CEO. Mr. Frenzel’s stewardship of these companies produced sizable returns for their investors, either through mergers, acquisitions or initial public offerings.

Brian Frenzel has also served as a Director of the Golden Capital Network, a nonprofit organization serving angel investors, entrepreneurs and regional development organizations, since 2000. He also currently claims membership in the Band of Angels, a Silicon Valley-based angel investment group. Mr. Frenzel earned his Bachelor of Science in physics from Stanford University in 1972, and his Master of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1978.
